I was an Apollo baby…

When I was eight, my atheist/communist folks decided to vault the privet hedges of Kent and transport me to another place. Plan A was Queensland, Australia. Plan B was a run-down farm, the Middle-of-Nowhere, Cornwall. Plan B was the plan that took off.
Books, wild landscapes and the company of animals made for an interesting childhood, but when teleportation (and good grades in Science) failed to materialise, I embarked on a BA in English & American Literature instead.
Whilst grounded, I’ve been a youth worker, an FE Lecturer (English/Comms), a dotcom boom-time marketer with a regional Internet Service Provider, an online IT tutor and, more recently, a citizen journalist with a local community action group.
Finally, I came full circle. Having travelled widely, tried city life and rural life, I landed back by the sea with my husband, step-son, and dog.
A life like this? Apollo Baby, The Good Life, The Importance of Music To Girls, BA English & American Literature (Essex), Down and Out in South London, PGCE, Wilt, The Beach, The IT Crowd, Blott on the [Bay], MA Professional Writing: Distinction (Falmouth CUC)…
I write fiction, features, and business copy. Sometimes I even get paid for it. I’ve had work published in ‘Green Places’ magazine and ‘The Guardian’.
Thanks for stopping by.
